How does a business go about reporting credit on the clients it gives credit to?

Question by Myke R: How does a business go about reporting credit on the clients it gives credit to?
If I just purchased a used car dealership a couple months ago and wanted to report to Equifax and others about the credit I extended, how do I go about having them accept and use my reports so buyers can have documented their good or bad credit? I’ve tried to visit websites and there does not seem to be anything that addresses this at equifax and the other agencies.

You become a member of the bureau (in other words, pay a fee) and this also entitles you to access credit reports for individuals to whom you are seeking to extend credit. Contact the bureau directly – you’ll need proof that you are a business operating in that space.

What happens to your existing credit cards if you foreclose your home? How about new credit cards?

Question by giobarricader: What happens to your existing credit cards if you foreclose your home? How about new credit cards?
Hello. I have a great credit score as of now, but things will certainly change once I fall to foreclosure on my home. 1) Will I lose my existing credit cards? 2) Will I be able to get new ones?

Also, does anyone know how many points you lose with forclosure?
Thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by tro
your credit card companies are in the position of canceling any of them without a good reason due to the downturn in the economy
if you don’t use it much, they will likely cancel it, if your payment schedule has been not so good, they might cancel
more than likely they are not informed of your foreclosure
possibility of not getting a new card would be less if you had a bankruptcy
and the foreclosure will definitely affect your credit score

How would the tax credit the goverment is talking about giving us work?

Question by jt6341: How would the tax credit the goverment is talking about giving us work?
I was watching larry king last night and it had several finicial advisors on there saying the president will announce today how much of a extra tax credit we will get. They are talking about giving $ 500-$ 1000. I was wondering how this would work? Is it per a person filing or per a household. I’m wondering because I live with my parents currently. So would me, my dad and my mom all get this credit since we are filing taxes or is it based per a household? Thanks for any advice you can give me on this.

All of these things are just ideas and proposals right now. Nothing has actually been decided.

I have 3 credit cards that I almost have paid off and project to have my credit report clear sometime this year. My question is once I have the credit cards paid off as well as my collection accounts how would I go about improving my credit score?

Also should I keep all 3 of the credit card accounts open?

Answer by Sarah K
Perhaps if you got a lawyer. The best thing may be for you to just wait it out, depending on how old the information is. It affects you less and less as time goes on and the information is dropped from your report.

If late payments are on your report after 7 years from last activity, you will need to contact the credit bureaus.

How should I go about raising my credit rating?

Question by Isendar: How should I go about raising my credit rating?
About 8 months ago, I applied for a credit card. I use it religiously about 3-5 times a month (usually about $ 20/month) so that I can raise my credit rating. I currently have Capital One so the APR is quite high (Mine’s at 21.50% right now). I had 2 mishaps where I was unable to pay the $ 10 minimum payment. I owed over $ 400 (My credit limit) and now I just payed $ 100 of it. I’ll be done paying it off by the end of this month. My question is: How can I A: repair the damage i’ve done to my credit and B: go about raising my rating?. I inquired with the 3 leading credit rating companies (Equifax and others) as to my credit rating and they all state that my credit rating was inconclusive. Does this have to do with the fact that I just established my credit 8 months ago or the fact that this year is the first year i’ll be filing taxes with the IRS? I’m really clueless when it comes to credit and so are my parents. Any info would be great!

Best answer:

Answer by caliw1983
Anytime you make a late payment on anything it is recorded on your credit. They best way to raise your credit score is to make sure you don’t make late payments on any of your bills. And any outstanding collections you may have need to be payed of. You will not see a change overnight. This will take 6 to 12 months to repair.
