How does a business go about reporting credit on the clients it gives credit to?

Question by Myke R: How does a business go about reporting credit on the clients it gives credit to?
If I just purchased a used car dealership a couple months ago and wanted to report to Equifax and others about the credit I extended, how do I go about having them accept and use my reports so buyers can have documented their good or bad credit? I’ve tried to visit websites and there does not seem to be anything that addresses this at equifax and the other agencies.

You become a member of the bureau (in other words, pay a fee) and this also entitles you to access credit reports for individuals to whom you are seeking to extend credit. Contact the bureau directly – you’ll need proof that you are a business operating in that space.

How long after paying off a credit card does it take to reflect on a credit report?

Lets say I have 4 credit cards totalling $ 3000. I then wrote out 4 checks and paid off each card in full on the same day. How long would I have to wait until my credit report reflected all of these charges paid off?

by the the collection agency has 3 months 2 update ur credit report, then they update it as paid in full or settled in full.

Hi, I moved from Europe to the US 2 years ago. Just tried to buy a house. Unfortunately i had no credit history in the US. Therefore i did my best to get a credit card to get a credit score (which i did 4 months ago). I now have a credit score of 653. Look quite bad no? Is it a bad score because my credit card is too recent?

Alot of factors can affect your credit score.

New cards.
High revolving balance compare to overall limit
low amounts of overall credit
late payment of any kind
multiple inquiries by creditors about your score

that’s just a sample of the things that can affect it. no telling what may have brought you that low however. the new card is definitely not helping though.

I want to apply for this new citi bank rewards credit card. They say you have to have good credit in order to get approved. I’m 19, I’ve had a student credit for 7 months. I have always paid the bill on time and just got my credit line increased. Some people say it takes 6 months to build good credit, is that really true?

Good credit 6 months to a year.. much longer to build excelent credit. It all dependa on how hard you work on it, it takes more than just paying your bills on time but that will at least get your credit good. To get it better than good though you need to understand what works for you and against you.. to much to list on here but you can do a search and find it all fairly easily. I had a 730 by the time I was 20 but I worked hard to get it there.

Or is it credit to debt ratio? Either way, I am a college student with 1k of bad marks on my credit report from years ago. I want to get a secured credit card for the amount that would look good to lenders like “this person pays on time and has a valuable credit history w/some lenders” (ie my dell account is on there which is good and the secured card would add to it).

Am I making sense? How can I do this? I’d rather not pay off the measley 1k, it should be removed within a few years anyway.
